The K&J scholarship is awarded in memory of Kiara (17) and Jameel (15) Pearse who were tragically killed in an automobile accident on November 14, 2006. Kiara’s dream was to own a child-care center after completing college and Jameel’s dream was to be a music producer. It is our hope that these scholarships will assist you in fulfilling your dreams. This scholarship was made possible by the generous contributions of family, friends and the community at large.
To assist youth in their post-secondary educational pursuits.
Presently this scholarship is available on a one-time basis. Any scholarship opportunities beyond this application period will be announced by the Foundation.
The K & J Foundation scholarship provides a onetime financial gift to youth entering colleges, universities or trade schools for the first time.
This is an equal opportunity scholarship. Four (4) applicants will be selected and each will receive a $500.00 scholarship.
Application must be received (postmarked) no later than May 1.
To be considered for the K & J Foundation Scholarship, the following requirements must be met:
- Applicant must attend a Harrison County School and be a resident of Harrison County, Mississippi.
- The applicant must submit two (2) copies of a typed, double-spaced, 500 – 750 word essay* describing your dreams, accomplishments and future goals. Include community involvement and how the Foundation’s scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
- The applicant must provide a copy of a letter of acceptance from future school.
- The applicant must provide two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal).
*This is an equal opportunity scholarship.
*The essay should consist of five (5) well-constructed paragraphs including an introduction, body, and conclusion. Sentences should flow fluently.
